Health Insurance

Chinese Traditional Symbol for ChiYou’ll want to verify your health insurance coverage before arranging your first visit.

Some of the Most Common Accepted Insurance Plans:

  • BlueCross and/or BlueShield
  • Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
  • Tufts
  • United Health Care
  • Healthsmart Benefit Plans

Use the following procedure if your insurance provider is not listed above. You may still be eligible for coverage:

  1. Call the member services number on your insurance card and ask if acupuncture services are covered.
    • Important: Ask if there are diagnostic code restrictions to coverage
  2. If covered, is it: in-network? / out-of-network?  is there a copay?  a deductible?
    • If they tell you my office is out-of-network, you may have recourse to make it ‘in-network’ (which means less copay/deductible). Tell them you wish to see Ted Pappas at ‘in-network’ rates. This is because there are no network providers within a ‘reasonable‘ distance. They will (usually) prepare a form to set things up accordingly. This form will be mailed to both you and my office.
  3. If your health insurance does not coveracupuncture services, you will as a courtesy, receive a generous 20% discount off the regular fees:
    • Initial Consult Fee $96 (Reg. $120)
    • Cost (per session) $64 (Reg. $80)
